Park Board

The Washburn Park Board maintains two major parks, Riverside and Pool Side, and several neighborhood parks throughout the city. Riverside Park is located along the Missouri River and features a paved walking trail, public boat ramp and dock, the historical Sioux Ferry, picnic shelters, fireplaces, a playground and a nine-hole Frisbee golf course. The park also offers a primitive camping area for both tents and campers. The Pool Side Park is adjacent to the Washburn public swimming pool in downtown Washburn and features playground equipment and a picnic shelter.

The Washburn Swimming Pool, located downtown adjacent to Poolside Park, is a retreat for all ages during the hot summer days. Open June through August, the large pool has a separate baby pool. The pool lifeguards are certified by the Red Cross. The swimming pool is maintained by the Washburn Park Board.

A  4.5 mile walking trail that starts in downtown Washburn, runs along the Missouri River, through Riverside Park and on to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center allows visitors and residents a place to walk, bike and enjoy the scenery and nature.

The Washburn Park Board is comprised of community members and are elected officials.
