Washburn Area Economic Development Association

In 2001, the city of Washburn went through a detailed community strategic planning process and developed a strategic plan for Washburn. As aprt of hte strategic plan came the vision statement for Washburn:

"The city of Washburn is a clean, safe, prosperous and growing community that welcomes new residents, provides excellent shopping and leisure-time activities, offers choices of quality employment and housing, and maintains the highest level of services, including health, education and public infrastructure, to all its citizens. The community serves a the retail and service center for other communities lying between Bismarck and Minot, and it is widely recognized as an ideal place to ship, live and raise a family"

The strategic plan also called for more active economic development direction and activities, thus the Washburn Economic Development Organization was recreated as the Washburn Area Economic Development Association (WAEDA). WAEDA will be the central location for economic development activites including but not limited to business growth and retention, new business development, residential and commercial development and community enhancements.

WAEDA's Mission

"Working with private and public sectors, position and promote Washburn as a quality place to live, work, gather and do business." The Washburn Area Economic Development Association meets the third Tuesday of every month. The public is welcome to attend.
